No obstacles for skater on Depot Pond

Ellie DeFoy of Batavia had the ice all to herself Monday as she laced up her skates and hit Depot Pond in Batavia.

Despite a temperature of about 10 degrees, the lack of wind and sunshine made skating more comfortable.

“The sun feels so warm. It’s gorgeous out here,” she said.

She said it was her first time skating this year. DeFoy said she has been skating since she was a kid growing up in Maine “skating on frog ponds.”
