Work continues on record-setting Six Flags coaster

Recent sub-zero temperatures have slowed commuter trains and left car batteries dead. But it hasn't stopped construction of what Six Flags in Gurnee says will be the fastest wooden roller coaster in the world.

Six Flags Great America says in a news release that construction crews are still working on the roller coaster, which is known as Goliath. It's expected to open this spring.

Hank Salemi is president of Six Flags Great America amusement park. He says Goliath will be “unmatched” because it will set three world records.

The ride will break the record of 72 miles per hour for a wooden roller coaster. It also will send riders plunging down a 180-foot high, 85 degree drop.
