Remarks about God were misconstrued

Words were misconstrued from my interview with the Daily Herald when put in print. As a candidate for Congress in the 9th District, I am concerned about new diseases, and many diseases do not have cures. I am a conservative Republican and put God first. I am concerned that gay marriage, civil unions and gay rights and abortions anger and provoke God.

We had 24 tornadoes in one day in November 2013 in three counties in Illinois. We have a record-breaking cold and snowfall winter. We have floods, droughts and plagues, too. The Bible says that if people pray and humble themselves, God will heal our land.

I never used the word “punishment” in my interview on Jan. 20. I apologize that the remarks as printed upset some people.
