Riverwalk, electric vehicles, liquor licenses on Naperville agenda

Topics including a southern expansion of the Naperville Riverwalk, the addition of more downtown electric vehicle charging stations and a possible new liquor license category for movie theaters all could be discussed when the Naperville City Council meets Tuesday night for the first time in about a month.

The council had canceled its Jan. 7 meeting — even before the day became the second in which the area experienced subzero temperatures — so the meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the municipal center at 400 S. Eagle St. is the first of the year.

Its agenda calls for a vote on several topics. Among them are a request to extend the boundaries of the Naperville Riverwalk south to Martin Avenue from its current end at Hillside Road; a proposal to add three electric vehicle charging stations to downtown parking facilities and to begin charging users 75 cents an hour for their use; and an ordinance creating a new liquor license that would allow AMC’s Showplace 16 movie theater at Route 59 and 95th Street, or other movie theaters, to sell alcohol.

While these topics are not listed for separate discussion, they could be addressed and voted on individually at the request of council members.
