Celebrate black history:

The Lake County Forest Preserve District hosts its 31st annual Profiles in Excellence celebration of black history Feb. 2 at the Greenbelt Cultural Center near North Chicago. The free event will run from 3 to 5 p.m. at the center, which is on Green Bay Road south of Route 120. It’s open to anyone, and registration isn’t required.
