Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center Thanks Community for Its Support.

The Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center was grateful to secure in December a $10,000 challenge grant from Midge and Dan Anderson, strong supporters of the Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center and Glen Ellyn residents. With this support, GECRC was able to raise an additional $10,000 from the community in new or increased donations making its end of the year fundraising campaign the most successful ever in its 11- year history.

Campaign chair, Joyce Hothan, is thrilled to report that we raised a total of $27,918, which represented $15,868 of new and increased donations. This is a testimony to how committed this community is to seeing that all children succeed and to the Andersons for setting the example for investing in our children. What a wonderful show of support for our organization's mission!”

Lisa Tylke, board chair, reiterated how delighted she is with the community's response but isn't surprised because people understand that GECRC provides essential tutoring and enrichment services to the low-income and refugee children in our schools.

She also expressed the organization's deep appreciation to the business community of Glen Ellyn especially the businesses that are part of The Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn who sponsored a Shopper's Night to Benefit GECRC and to Baird and Warner for generously donating $1,000 through their “Good Will Network”.

John Matthews, Managing Broker of Baird and Warner's Glen Ellyn Office said, “our real estate associates know the importance of making sure all our children succeed in school. Our office is impressed with the difference The Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center is making in the lives of school children in our community. We are happy to help”.

The Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center mission is to assist low-income, refugee and immigrant children to acquire the necessary skills in academics and social interaction to move successfully through school and into adulthood. After school help is provided daily at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School throughout the school year. For more information, contact Lfoster@gecrc.com.
