Take part in Smart Farm’s 5K Frozen Zucchini Adventure

Smart Farm of Barrington will hold its fourth annual 5K Frozen Zucchini Adventure at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Jewel Tea Pavilion in Citizens Park, Barrington.

The Frozen Zucchini is a sanctioned and certified 5K snowshoe race. Children’s activities will take place during the race and prizes and goody bags are provided to all registered participants.

This event is a great way to enjoy some outdoor winter activity. No experience is necessary and snowshoe rental is available. If there is not enough snow, the Frozen Zucchini will be a running race.

Smart Farm of Barrington in a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide educational opportunities to encourage sustainable gardening and to raise and donate fresh produce for area food pantries.

During the 2013 growing season, Smart Farm donated nearly 6,700 pounds of fresh vegetables raised by 150 dedicated volunteers.
