Southern Indiana house fire kills 3 children

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Southern Indiana authorities say three children have died in an early morning house fire in the Ohio River city of New Albany.
Floyd County fire marshal Chris Koehler tells The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., the three juveniles’ bodies were found in one bedroom where Saturday’s fire was contained. He says the rest of the three-bedroom house in the city just north of Louisville received minor damage.
County Coroner Dr. Leslie Knable tells the newspaper another juvenile survived the 2 a.m. fire. She says the youngsters’ mother and another adult were apparently outside the home when they saw flames and reported the fire.
Koehler says his department is still trying to determine whether the adults were inside or outside the home at the time of the fire.
