Registration opens for Warren Township Girls Softball

Warren Township Girls Softball has announced details for the 2014 season of WTGS Fastpitch. Girls play in an atmosphere of fun, skills development, sportsmanship, teamwork and competition. Games and practices are held at Warren Township between April and July.

The Fastpitch league offers multiple levels of play for girls currently in first through 10th grades. Included is an Instructional Division for first- and second-graders. The various levels of play create an opportunity for girls learn the game of softball and to participate in competitive games.

Although girls that live in Warren Township are given preference when space is limited, the league welcomes girls from all surrounding areas as well.

Teams practice or play games twice a week, play at least 10-12 games, participate in a season-ending tournament, and have a season-ending awards party.

All players receive uniforms and most equipment is provided by the league. Girls can also tryout for one of the All-Star teams and play an additional 8-12 games in tournaments at other sites in the area.

Parents can register online. Registration opened Dec. 1, 2013, at WarrenGirlsSoftball.com. Prospective players may also register in person Sunday, Jan. 26, at Warren Township High School’s Almond Campus, 34090 N. Almond Road, Gurnee, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The league recommends registering online as early as possible. Online registrants will also be required to come to the high school Jan. 26 for uniform fittings.
