Alcott tops Maine West at Wheeling

Maine West wrapped up a 1-3 performance at Wheeling’s Hardwood Classic with a 58-56 loss to Alcott on Saturday.

Matt Acevedo 8-for-14 from the floor (with three 3’s) and 3-for-3 at the foul line to finish with a team-best 22 points along with 9 rebounds for Maine West. Joel Ferraren had 13 points for the Warriors.

Alcott’s Devion Benton, a 6-foot-5 forward, led all scorers with 28 points along with 17 rebounds and 7 assists.

Maine West was outscored 16-4 in the first quarter before reversing the trend in the second and outscoring Alcott 25-12.
