Des Plaines Metra ticket office closed until Jan. 2 for upgrades

Metra riders boarding at the Des Plaines station will have to buy tickets elsewhere until Jan. 2, while the station’s ticket office is closed for upgrades.

Riders can buy tickets at the Mount Prospect and Park Ridge stations as well as at Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago, all of which are along the same Union Pacific Northwest Line as the Des Plaines stop. The warming area at the Des Plaines station, 1501 Miner St., will remain open.

The station is undergoing a $705,315 remodel that includes new outdoor seating, lighting, flooring and benches, and an expanded coffee shop.
