Late free throws lift WIU over Troy

LOGAN, Utah — Jabari Sandifer made 3 of 4 free throws in the final six seconds on Friday night to give Western Illinois a 61-58 victory over Troy in the Basketball Travelers Classic at Utah State.

The game was tied 58-58 with 2:42 left and remained that way until Sandifer made two free throws with six seconds left. Antoine Myers turned the ball over and Sandifer went to the line again with one second left to make 1 of 2 from the line.

WIU trailed most of the game before a 13-5 run tied the score at 51.

The Leathernecks made 20 of 27 free throws while Troy made 11 of 25. Adam Link made 10 of 14 free throws and led WIU with 24 points.

Tevin Calhoun had 14 points to lead Troy (4-6) which had a chance to go ahead with 37 seconds left when Kevin Thomas missed both free throws.
