Arlington Hts. Citizen Police Academy graduates 26

Class No. 18 of the Arlington Heights Citizen Police Academy held its graduation ceremony in the council chamber of the village hall on Tuesday Nov. 19.

The academy graduation was attended by Mayor Thomas Hayes and Chief of Police Gerald Mourning and recognized 26 citizen students. The ceremony followed a demonstration of search techniques and equipment by the police department’s three K-9 officers and dogs Layka, Marco and Max.

To date and since the inception of the academy program in 2005, the Arlington Heights Police Department has graduated nearly 400 village residents and business leaders.

Applications for the spring session of the academy are now available through the village website at www.vah.com and through the police department’s Information Desk.
