Scholarship offered to Blackhawks fans

University of Phoenix and the Chicago Blackhawks are teaming up to provide fans the opportunity to earn a degree through the new Blackhawks Breakaway Scholarship program. Two Blackhawks fans will be selected for a full-tuition scholarship to pursue either an undergraduate or master’s degree from University of Phoenix’s more than 100 degree programs offered at more than 100 campus locations or online.

“University of Phoenix is excited to partner with the reigning Stanley Cup Champions and one of the National Hockey League’s premier franchises to offer this new scholarship program,” said Kathy Gamboa, University of Phoenix district vice president. “The Blackhawks have a long-standing dedication to serving the Chicago community. The Breakaway Scholarship program demonstrates the corporate social responsibility of both of our organizations to provide access to education opportunities. Together, we look forward to providing two scholarship applicants with the opportunity to continue their paths to successful careers through education.”

To apply for the Blackhawks Breakaway Scholarship program, applicants must be Illinois, Wisconsin or Indiana residents who are prospective students, meet the scholarship eligibility requirements and complete the online scholarship application, which includes the submission of three written essays.
