Check out holiday trains at Sun City
Submitted by Model Railroad Club
The Kishwaukee Valley & Eakin Creek-Sun City Model Railroad Club will be running trains through Sunday, Dec. 29, in the Prairie Lodge Social Lounge, 12880 Del Webb Blvd. in Huntley.
Weekday running times will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and weekend running times will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On some days, they may have extended hours dependent on other activities in the Lodge. Note, the Lodge will be closed on Christmas Day so the display will be closed. On Christmas Eve, the Lodge and the display will close at 1 p.m.
Once again, the club will sponsor a drawing for three Lionel trains. This year’s model will be a Santa Fe Super Chief O gauge train set with traditional war bonnet markings. This train set is one of the hallmarks of the Lionel Train series and was featured in numerous catalogs and layouts. The raffle will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23; winners need not be present. So bring your kids, grandkids and cameras and spend some time enjoying the season and the trains.
The Model Railroad Club is proud to sponsor this holiday tradition and they invite all Sun City residents, their family and friends, as well as residents of neighboring communities, to this annual tradition. The admission is free but they do ask that all children be accompanied by an adult.
Interested patrons can also call the club’s message center at (847) 669-2392 to learn more details of the Holiday Display or they can check out the Sun City website at sccah.com.
