St. Charles East to host annual Hoops for Hope fundraiser

Submitted by St. Charles East Boys Basketball

The St. Charles East boys basketball team is hosting their second annual Hoops for Hope fundraiser Saturday, Dec. 21, at all of the boys freshmen, sophomore and varsity basketball games against Batavia High School.

The majority of this year’s proceeds will support The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, an organization named after Jimmy Valvano, a famous college basketball coach who died at age 46 of cancer.

There are several activities planned for the event, including showing a short video on Jimmy V and how cancer has touched several people at St. Charles East.

Students are seeking donations for community service hours, selling “Hoops for Hope” T-shirts, raffling prizes and selling tribute basketballs to raise funds for cancer research.

Last year, the event raised more than $10,000. Wear your “Hoops for Hope” T-shirt to the game and enjoy free admission.
