Batavia cruises by Waubonsie Valley

Batavia jumped to a 25-6 lead after one quarter on its way to an 63-39 victory at Waubonsie Valley on Thursday in an Upstate Eight Conference crossover.

Liza Fruendt led Batavia (7-1) with 25 points. The senior has scored 20 or more points in seven of Batavia’s eight games.

Aurora Central Catholic 65, IMSA 26: Junior guard Gabi Alfaro scored 10 of the Chargers’ first 15 points Thursday night.

Freshman Taylor Harazin led the Chargers with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 blocks. Senior Maggie O’Brien chipped in 8 points in a game that all 12 Chargers scored.

The Chargers (5-3) take on Guerin Prep in Aurora Friday night.

Larkin 62, St. Charles North 58: The North Stars (3-6) started strong with a 22-point first quarter Thursday in Elgin but fell behind 36-34 by halftime and couldn’t overtake the Royals down the stretch. Nichole Davidson led the North Stars with 25 points and Morgan Rosencrants added 14.
