Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court in Elgin, will launch their membership program with a free membership kickoff event from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. The event will not only display the details of a 2014 SSA membership, but also will feature performances by Classless Improv Comedy, free food from Danny’s On Douglas, promotions by membership partners, and the current exhibition, “Krampuslauf — Elgin,” as well as art projects for the kids, and more.
Side Street Studio Arts is starting its membership program to reward those who have been and plan to continue to be supportive of the gallery and performance venue. Memberships, which range from $25 for students to $250 for business sponsorships, include workshop and performance discounts, an art collector’s payment plan and discounts, early bird calls for art, and more.
“For those already involved in the Side Street community, the membership will pay for itself in no time,” said studio director Amanda Harris. “And the financial support will help fundraise for Side Street, allowing us to keep our programs growing in the new year.”
Side Street Studio Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded earlier this year by Elgin residents Tanner Melvin and Erin Rehberg. Currently under the direction of Harris, Melvin, and Rehberg, Side Street has become an outlet for the Elgin arts scene providing accessible space encouraging all aspects of the artistic process from creation to curation.
