Heartland Voices, an Elgin-based adult choral ensemble, presents its 15th season Christmas program, “This Christmastide: Home is Where the Heart Is,” on Dec. 14-15.
Performances will be at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland Ave. in Elgin. Or join Heartland Voices in Schaumburg at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at Our Redeemer United Methodist Church, 1600 W. Schaumburg Road.
The 3 p.m. Dec. 14 concert will feature the Elgin Children’s Chorus Intermezzo/Treble Choir, under the direction of Lisa Bettcher, with accompanist Reid Spears and the Dundee Middle School Bella Voca and Men’s Ensemble, under the direction of Mona Roy. Their songs will include “Dona Nobis Pacem,” “Christmas Is Coming,” and “Decorate the Halls” by Catherine Bennett.
Heartland Voices will combine with Bella Voce and the Men’s Ensemble in “Hope for Resolution” arranged by Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory. Both choirs will combine with Heartland Voices and sing “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” arranged by Joel Raney. Heartland Voices will present two of Howard Helvey’s duo piano accompaniment arrangements of “Angels We Have Heard On High” and “Fum, Fum, Fum”.
The candlelight concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 will include selections accompanied by Jennifer Keller on harp and Deb Stevenson on oboe. Heartland Voices presentations also will include works by Distler, Poulenc, Paert, and John Rutter. The middle school choral ensembles, Bella Voce and Men’s Ensemble will again join Heartland Voices and combine once again to present “Hope for Resolution.”
And as they have for 15 years, Heartland Voices will conclude the evening with their signature Christmas piece, Donald Fraser’s “This Christmastide.”
