Bicyclists continue to ignore stop signs
This is in response to the Nov. 24 letter, “Driver, bikers must learn to coexist,” by Mike Smolenski. Mr. Smolenski does not mention the fact that bikers blow through stop signs and red lights, and most do not signal when turning. I wonder if he is as tired of the possible outcome if a vehicle strikes a biker who has blown a required stop. I wonder if he is as tired of the fact that it is against the law for bikers not to stop at stop signs red lights?
If a fatal accident does happen by a biker ignoring a stop command, somehow it will be spun that the fault is with the operator of the vehicle. Mr. Smolenski’s bias for bikers needs to be adjusted. He has to engage in objectivity, not subjectivity. The only way for coexistence is for bikers to understand the rules of the road, and obey them.
