The Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines recently participated in their annual Shoes for Kids event. Kiwanis members invited seventy local children in need to shop for new boots or shoes for the winter. Funds for the annual service project were raised through the Peanut Day fundraiser. Kmart, 1155 Oakton Street, Des Plaines was a partner in this project.

The Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines was chartered 72 years ago as a member of Kiwanis International, a global organization of members of every age who are dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 12:15 pm at the Elks Club, 495 Lee St. New members are always welcome. For more information, or to volunteer to help, contact Brenda at (847) 827-3406.
