Big East honor for DePaul’s Garrett

After scoring his first double-double of the season, DePaul freshman Billy Garrett Jr. was named Big East Rookie of the Week. The talented freshman from Chicago averaging 10.7 points and 4.3 assists in three games last week.

Garrett totaled 15 points and 10 assists in DePaul’s 93-81 win over Oregon State on Sunday. Before that, he scored 11 points in his first collegiate start against Texas, and he had 6 points off the bench against Wichita State. In his two starts, Garrett averaged 13 points and six assists while shooting .421 from the field.

The Blue Demons (4-3) host Arizona State at 6 p.m. Friday at Allstate Arena.
