How to support animal shelter during holidays

Consider supporting Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S. LaFox St. (Route 31) in South Elgin, during the holidays. Donate to the Savers Fundraiser, get tickets for the Holiday Brew Fest or sign up for the Santa Paws Workshop.

Ÿ Donate clothing, shoes or household items and help Anderson Animal Shelter and the Epilepsy Foundation.

For each donation received during the donation drive through Saturday, Dec. 7, Savers will pay each nonprofit. Savers has a long history of supporting the community.

Items to be donated include clothing, toys, shoes and accessories; household items; and bedding, linens and bath items.

Ÿ Fox River Harley-Davidson and Windy City Triumph will host a “Holiday Brew Fest” from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at 131 S. Randall Road in St. Charles. Proceeds will benefit the Anderson Animal Shelter. There will be a showroom with over 25 beer crafters; food will be provided. Cost is $40, all inclusive. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. Ÿ Anderson Animal Shelter is now registering youth for the 2013 Santa Paws’ Workshop, which is for children, age 6-12. The workshop takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 or Sunday, Dec. 15, at the shelter. The cost of this four-hour educational program is $50 per child. Activities include holiday theme fun, crafts, games, a pizza party and interaction with the animals.
