Find the waste, fraud in food stamps program
The typhoon in the Philippines caused loss of life and a population left without shelter, food and water. The cartoonist in the Daily Herald on Nov. 20 equates this to what will happen to the American people because of a cut in food stamps.
In preparation for the 2012 presidential election, 5.7 million people were added to the food stamp program, and it is hard to believe that every one of them was given a thorough “needs” test to determine eligibility. Isn’t it possible that through elimination of waste, mismanagement and elimination of fraudulent recipients, an expense reduction could be achieved while still maintaining the benefits of the program?
