Pickup truck falls into sinkhole in Chicago

A sinkhole that formed on Chicago’s South Side swallowed a pickup truck Thursday evening, temporarily trapping one person inside.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that authorities rescued the person from the truck stuck in the hole in the eastbound lanes of 95th Street. One other person had been in the truck but apparently wasn’t trapped. Authorities said there were no injuries.

Chicago police said a water main break may have caused the sinkhole and the city’s Department of Transportation is investigating. Traffic was being rerouted.
