North Aurora to conduct test of emergency notification system

The village of North Aurora will conduct a test of its new Nixle 360 emergency notification system Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The test will consist of an automated phone call to all listed and unlisted landline telephone lines in the village beginning at 9 a.m.

The message will be begin with an introduction by Village President Dale Berman followed by the test message.

The Nixle 360 system is an Internet based emergency notification system that combines phone calls, emails, and text messages to reach residents and subscribers.

The system replaces the Reverse 911 system, a hardware based phone call system that was purchased in 2007 and has become outdated.

The new system will be utilized by all village departments to notify residents and subscribers of urgent or emergency information.

Once the new Nixle 360 system is operational, the village will share information on how to register to receive emails as well as calls and text messages on you cellular phone.
