Algonquin man pleads guilty in child porn case
A 38-year-old Algonquin man faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to possessing child pornography.
John Carlson admitted that in August 2011 he possessed images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Carlson was charged with several child pornography counts in August 2012 following an FBI investigation that involved assistance from Algonquin police, federal officials said.
He could be sentenced to 10 years behind bars at his May 2014 sentencing. He could also be ordered on supervised release for the remainder of his life when he is released from prison. He faces a fine of up to $250,000.
