Crafters, collectors gather at Fox Art and Craft Show

Crafter Kathie Roller was having a good day sitting in a beam of sunlight that landed on her booth Sunday at the Christmas on the Fox Art and Craft Show when one of her favorite customers found her way to the tables of soft, whimsical snowmen and gentle angels displayed in and around rich wooden boxes.

“This lady is good,” said Elaine Hicks, who came from her Elk Grove Village home to the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles for the event. “These are real crafts.”

The juried show featured two rooms of the Prairie Events Center filled with handmade crafts ranging from Christmas floral and greens, to candy, unique photography, paper crafts, wooden signs, and even soap and cooking oils.

“This is a good show,” Hicks said as she held one of three holiday angels found in Roller’s booth. “This is better than anything Hallmark has got.”

“I just love you,” said Roller, who lives near Wheaton, as she wrapped a family of angels for Hicks. “The beam of light is like a spotlight to my booth.”
