Palatine Holidays on the Town shopping

Downtown Palatine’s annual Holidays On The Town will launch with A Very Merry Shopping Event from 5-9 p.m. Friday. Select merchants in the downtown area will be offering festive hors d’oeuvres, sweets and wine along with a Rudolph Raffle, prizes and special savings.

A Passport to Prizes booklet can be purchased from any participating merchant for $2 and will provide entry into prize drawings for each location visited. Additional Rudolph Raffle tickets will be available for $1 each or six for $5.

Saturday is Family Fun Day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children can pick up a free game card at participating merchants to play the Holiday Treasure Hunt Game, searching for pictures in stores To complete their game card and have a chance to win prizes, including a bike.

Music will be provided by the from Walter R. Sundling Jr. High School chorus from noon to 1 p.m. Palatine Bank & Trust will be hold Winter Story Time from 11:30 a.m. to noon with refreshments.

Family Fun Day will end with the village tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. in Towne Square, led by Mayor Jim Schwantz and Santa. Music will be provided by the Palatine Children’s Chorus and Holiday Treasure Hunt prize winners will be announced. There will be a party at a nearby diner following the ceremony, with complementary coffee and eggnog for adults, and hot chocolate for children.
