Jennifer Boys Awarded IPRA Professional of the Year-Facilities Section

Jennifer Boys, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation for the Des Plaines Park District, received the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association's Professional of the Year award for the Facility Management Section on November 8 at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling. Boys was recognized for her extensive experience managing facilities, specifically waterparks and pools, and her commitment to the Chippewa Pool Project from August 2012-June 2013. “Boys' extensive aquatic experience was invaluable in the redesign and construction of Chippewa Pool. Her commitment to creating a family-friendly neighborhood pool; designing new safety protocols; overseeing the training of lifeguards and staff; and helping to bring the project to completion on time, reflects her commitment to the District, and why she is so deserving of this award,” said Linda Traina, Superintendent of Recreation.

The IPRA Professional of the Year awards' ceremony is held annually. Candidates are nominated by a member of IPRA and their recommendation is reviewed by an Awards and Recognition committee. Boys thanked the Des Plaines Park District and her family and friends for “allowing her to do her job.”

Boys began her career at the Des Plaines Park District in January of 1997, as the Aquatics Supervisor. In 2008, Boys was named Assistant Superintendent of Facilities. Her responsibilities included overseeing the Lake Park Golf Course and Golf Center Des Plaines. In 2011, she was named Assistant Superintendent of Recreation responsible for overseeing all Pool Operations, Mountain View Adventure Center, Prairie Lakes Community Center, and the Leisure Center, in addition to the recreation staff and programming. “Jenn is vigilant about her responsibilities and takes pride in her work,” said Traina. “She is a great representative of the District out in our community.”
