Donate items to Mitten Tree Project in Des Plaines
This holiday season the City of Des Plaines Health and Human Services Division and the Special Events Commission will host the Mitten Tree Project for the purpose of collecting new hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for those in the community who are in need.
This is an opportunity for individuals, families, groups and businesses to help children and adults to stay warm during the winter months.
Items, which will be distributed to local schools, the Self-Help Closet & Pantry of Des Plaines, Bessie’s Table and individuals in need, will be collected through Friday, Dec. 13, at the following locations:
Ÿ Des Plaines City Hall, 1420 Miner St., first floor lobby;
Ÿ Frisbie Senior Center, 52 E. Northwest Hwy.;
Ÿ Prairie Lakes Park District, 515 E. Thacker St.;
Ÿ Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood, Children’s Department;
Ÿ St. Zachary Church, 567 W. Algonquin Road;
Ÿ First Midwest Bank, 749 Lee St.;
Ÿ Kmart, 1155 Oakton St.;
Ÿ Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, 310 N. River Road.
