The first group with no memory of it

I was first-semester freshman in college in the fall of 1977. I was in an American history class covering 1877-present. Our professor was lecturing about the day of JFK’s assassination. I noticed he had quizzical look. We students were almost all born in 1959. We were 4 years old when JFK was killed. So most of us didn’t remember that terrible day.

Our professor remembered vividly. I noticed his odd look. I then introduced myself and classmates: “Professor, here we are. The first group of kids who don’t remember.”
