Bartlett H.S.’s play keeps Shakespeare lovers, haters laughing
Submitted by Bartlett High School
Bartlett High School will present “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, to Saturday, Nov. 16, in the high school auditorium, 701 Schick Road.
In this hilarious fast-firing comedy, the cast will attempt to perform Shakespeare’s 37 plays (plus the sonnets) in less than two hours. Fast paced, witty, full of energy, and physical, it’s jam-packed with laughter for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike.
The cast features 17 ensemble members, two stage managers, and a larger group of students who are working on the school’s first Tech Club. This club allows students to learn the behind-the-scenes of a theater production — everything from scene design, painting the set, props, costumes, lighting, sound, run crew, and house staff.
This production has also been submitted to perform at the Illinois High School Theatre Festival in January at Illinois State University. If selected for the festival, our production will perform in front of thousands of high school students and educators from around the entire state of Illinois. If chosen, this will be the first time that Bartlett High School brings a play to perform down at the festival.
The cast includes: Andrew Brhel, Mikey Cyrier, Molly Dewitt, Nick Dungey, Rachel Holderman, Amaan Khan, Tabby Los, Michael Martinez, Garrett Mayberry, Simon Merheb, Josh Morris, Sara Neziri, Michael O’Malley, Natalie Payne, Amy Swanson, Mike White, and Sam Witz. The two stage managers are Elie Rogers and Hailey Laari.
This show is directed by Mike Miserendino, with technical director Dave Goldman and costume designer Linda Baker.
Tickets are $8 or $6 for students and seniors. Bartlett High School faculty and staff are admitted free with their school ID. Tickets are available for purchase at the door.
