Lake Forest authorities investigating mansion blaze
Investigators are trying to determine what caused a Lake Forest mansion fire that resulted in about $2 million in damage, officials said.
Lake Forest firefighters were summoned to the house in the 1100 block of Keswick Drive at 11:53 p.m. Sunday. Crews arrived within five minutes of receiving the 911 call from the homeowner regarding a roof blaze on the city’s west side, officials said.
Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy flames from the second floor and roof. Reports state that firefighters quickly confirmed all occupants were out of the mansion.
No injuries were reported to the residents or firefighters, officials said. Smoke detectors alerted the residents inside the home to the fire before the 911 call was made.
Officials said the blaze remained under investigation Tuesday. The fire caused an estimated $2 million in damage, but reports state about $1 million in property value was saved.
About 60 firefighters from 12 nearby departments eventually assisted at the scene. Final units cleared the scene at 4:51 a.m. Monday.
