Des Plaines Police Officer Mike Schild Presented Life Saving Award

Des Plaines Police Officer Mike Schild received a Life Saving Award from Des Plaines Police Chief William Kushner, on behalf of the City of Des Plaines, at the Monday, November 4, 2013, City Council Meeting. On Friday, July 12, 2013, Officer Mike Schild reported to the 2000 block of Estes Avenue regarding an unresponsive subject. Upon arrival, Officer Schild located a 65-year old man in his bed with no pulse and not breathing. Officer Schild initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until the Des Plaines Fire Department arrived on the scene and continued to administer life saving measures. As stated during the Award Presentation by Police Chief William Kushner, “Due to Officer Mike Schild's quick thinking and calm demeanor during a lifesaving incident, the victim's life was saved.”
