6th man charged in mass shooting at Chicago park
A 28-year-old Chicago man is the sixth person to be charged in connection with a mass shooting in a park on the city’s South Side that injured 13 people.
Chicago Police say Sunday that Darren Curtis is charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery for the Sept. 19 shooting.
Police have said the attack was led by a gang member seeking revenge after being grazed in the leg hours earlier. Two gunmen armed with an AK-47-style assault rifle and a .22-caliber revolver fired into a crowded basketball court.
The shooting wounded several rival gang members as well as bystanders, including a 3-year-old boy.
Curtis is expected to appear in Cook County bond court Sunday. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
