Volunteers gather seeds at prairie

Submitted by Citizens for Conservation

On Make A Difference Day, the nation’s largest day of community service, millions of volunteers across the country worked to improve the quality of life in their communities. At Citizens for Conservation, families, friends, youth and community groups, composed of experienced as well as new volunteers, gathered seed of native plants at CFC’s Grigsby Prairie.

The seed is now being processed, along with all of the seed that has been gathered during many seed-collecting workdays this fall. After all of the seed is cleaned, weighed and mixed for appropriate ecosystems by CFC volunteers, it will be planted in local restorations. The planting will be completed by the end of November.
