A simple idea to help travelers with kids

Here’s a no brainer for whoever is in charge of such stuff — when a rest stop is closed on a major highway, like I-55 or I-57, post the “Closed” notice on the sign for the rest stop that comes before the closed one. This way a traveler can make an informed decision about whether to pull into the open rest stop.

Recently, all I saw posted at the open rest stop was “Next rest stop 46 miles.” Well, it was closed and the “Closed” sign was posted below the rest stop sign. Travel with children and tell them to wait another 45 minutes before stopping only to find that rest stop is closed? Not good.
