Help for homeless veterans:

The new Walk-In Center for Homeless Veterans opens Monday, Nov. 4, at the Capt. James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago. The walk-in center will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. in Building 133, Room 1D 121 at the main hospital at 3001 Green Bay Road. The center will provide homeless veterans immediate help with resources and information, including about transportation and emergency housing. During operating hours, walk-in staff can be reached at (224) 610-1148. Outside operating hours, veterans may call (224) 588-0009 for assistance.
