Elk Grove organizations team up for Toys for Tots

The Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove, The Heart Of A Marine Foundation and the Northwest Suburban Marine Corps League are teaming up for Toys for Tots.

Members of the CCC have Toys for Tots receptacles in their businesses and organizations for toy collection, which will take place through November.

The following organizations will have Toys for Tots receptacles: District 59 Administrative Headquarters; Elk Grove Lionesses; Elk Grove Public Library; Elk Grove Village Hall; Elk Grove Park District Pavilion and Hattendorf Center; Elk Grove Township; Jersey Mike’s Subs in Elk Grove, Schaumburg, Gurnee, Park Ridge and Niles; and Primerica, the Shinnyo-en Temple and Tasty Catering, all in Elk Grove Village.

Al Kolodziej, commandant of the Northwest Suburban Marine Corps League, said, “What a wonderful event! This will definitely make a difference in the lives of many, many, children. We are so happy and excited to be a part of this campaign.

“We are grateful for all toys, Kolodziej continued, “but ask donors to remember the 10-16 year age group. We always seem to be in need for teenagers.”

On Tuesday, Dec. 3, members of the CCC will bring the donated toys collected to the December CCC meeting. At that time, Marines will be present to accept the donations, pose for photos, and personally thank the Elk Grove Village community for its generosity.

Barbara Matsukes with the Elk Grove-based The Heart Of A Marine Foundation stated, “This campaign is a natural. We live in such a caring community that bringing the Marine Corps’ signature event to Elk Grove just fits. I am confident that Elk Grove will shine in this effort.”

Elk Grove Village Toys for Tots receptacle locations will available for donations until Dec. 1.

All toys donated to Toys for Tots should be new and unwrapped. Requests for toys can only be made by churches or community service organizations, and are made directly to the Marine Corps Reserve in Chicago.
