Smooth drive, but worth the cost?
So, the new two-mile stretch of Lake Shore Drive cost $64 million or, calculated another way, $32 million per mile. Is it paved with gold? Good intentions? Union contracts?
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel indicated that “this is a boon for residents and business owners.” I would suggest that it is a boondoggle for the taxpayers whose earnings were confiscated to fund this project.
