A Caring Place celebrates Oktoberfest

Members of A Caring Place, a respite program, celebrated Oktoberfest with bratwurst, knackwurst, homemade German potato salad, sautéed vegetables, Waldorf salad and root beer served in mugs all made by Chef Don. For dessert, another participant made his homemade cheesecake.

A volunteer at the program was intrigued with the recipes that Chef Don had and thought it would be fun to have a luncheon and taste some of the chef’s dishes. The luncheon was a complete success and the group is anxious to taste more of Chef Don’s recipes in the future.

A Caring Place is held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 1045 S. Arlington Heights Road, in Elk Grove Village. This respite program gives caregivers a break for the day and the participants enjoy the company of others as well as games and structured activities.
