Antioch police search for man in suspicious death case

Antioch police are investigating a suspicious death in the 1200 block of Main Street in Antioch.

Officials are releasing few details regarding the investigation, but say they want to talk to a man who may be involved in the death.

Police say Billy Varner, 54, who is described as a white male, was last seen driving a 2002 tan Chevy extended conversion van with the registration N943872. The van has damage to the rear passenger-side taillight area, officials said in a release.

Antioch police are not commenting further on the suspicious death investigation. However, Facebook scanner sites have reported the presence of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force and the coroner’s office at the apartment building.

Police say do not approach Varner. If anyone sees him, call 911 or the Antioch Police Department at (847) 395-8585.

Antioch Police Chief Craig Somerville and officials from the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force were unavailable for comment Tuesday morning.
