Cook County gets $5M in state construction money

Gov. Pat Quinn’s office says almost $5 million in state money has been allocated for construction projects in Cook County.

That includes $1.2 million for material to relocate a water main and almost $460,000 to rehabilitate a bridge along southbound Route 43 in Chicago.

Money also has been allocated for sidewalks in Hickory Hills, traffic signals in Palatine, roadway reconstruction and a pedestrian path in Rolling Meadows and road repaving and sidewalks in South Holland.

The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the projects, which are part of a $31 billion statewide capital improvement program.
