Naperville resident appointed to VanderCook College of Music board

Alina Haber-Kovach was appointed to the Board of Trustees in September 2013 and will join the board at the October 2013 board meeting.

Haber-Kovach is currently is Senior Consultant at the Beaird Group where she leads large-scale initiatives to drive specific strategic and financial objectives. Haber-Kovach has worked with and/or consulted to Exelon Corporation, Arthur Andersen, Baird & Warner, the Beaird Group, Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago and Naperville Community Unit School District 203. She holds an MBA from The University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and an undergraduate degree from Purdue University in Environmental Health.

As an entrepreneur with a hands-on demeanor, Haber-Kovach is consistently cited for having a passion for work, a professional disposition, and an upbeat, positive attitude. Haber-Kovach's passion for education was propelled at the age of 8. When she and her family emigrated from Cuba, she worked as an interpreter for migrant children attending school.

Featured on Channel 44 “De Todo Un Poco”, as a successful Latina woman, Haber-Kovach is a dedicated community volunteer who advocates for educational opportunities and programs. “The VanderCook community welcomes Alina's expertise and energy to the board. She brings a wealth of business knowledge as well as a passion for music education,” said VanderCook College of Music's President, Dr. Charles Menghini.

The college was one of the first three schools to offer a degree in instrumental music education and is the only independent college dedicated solely to music education.
