Elk Grove to install new water main along Thorndale
A new 355-foot water main will be installed along Thorndale Avenue in Elk Grove Village to fix drainage problems in the area, officials said.
The existing water main experienced “significant repeated failures” during repairs on Oct. 7 and 8, and subsequent failures required additional repairs, according to a memo from Brian Lovering, the village’s senior engineer. Some residents have had their water service interrupted, warranting replacement of the pipe, Lovering said.
The village board this week approved a $95,778.75 contract with Swallow Construction of Downers Grove to install the new 8-inch ductile pipe. Construction is expected to begin in November.
