Flamenco celebrated Saturday in Arlington Hts.

Art and Flamenco, a celebration of the arts with Flamenco Expresivo Dance Ensemble, will be 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at The Dance Xpress, 924 S. Arthur in Arlington Heights.

The evening will open with a performance by professional guitarist and vocalist Dean Milano. Music will continue throughout the evening with performances on the cello by Miki Graf of Arlington Heights and Pete Dziadzka of Palatine on classical guitar.

Flamenco Expresivo Dance Ensemble is made up of students studying Spanish Dance at the studio. The group includes children and adults from a variety of backgrounds. Their main focus is on flamenco, neoclassical, and Spanish folkloric dance, especially flamenco.

Dancing flamenco throughout the evening are Barb Hartman of Prospect Heights, Cecilia Davila of Elmhurst, Natalya Poltorak of Lake Zurich, Patricia Lindgren of Hawthorn Woods, Jill Karmann of Chicago, and Noah Zielinski, Alfredo Uribe, Catherine Beck, Cathy Thomas, Mikki and Chloe Graf, all of Arlington Heights, as well as dance instructors Margie Dziadzka of Palatine and Mary Ann Oberschmied of Elk Grove Village.

Potter and Uribe, along with Elly Davies of Arlington Heights and Veronica Potter of Barrington, will show their dance-themed paintings. Margie Dziazdzka is artistic director and founder of the ensemble.
