Performances are at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and children, and may be purchased at the door.
Robert Harling’s play that sparked the 1989 film centers on Truvy’s beauty parlor and the women who regularly gather there. The story begins on the morning of Shelby’s wedding to Jackson and covers events over the next three years. The focus of the drama is Shelby’s decision to have a child despite having Type 1 diabetes and the complications that result from the decision. Although the main storyline involves this decision, the underlying friendship among all six women is the focus throughout the comedy-drama.
