Chicago to remove red-light cameras at 18 sites

The city of Chicago is removing red-light cameras at 18 intersections after a significant reduction in crashes at the sites.

The city will remove 36 cameras from the 18 sites. That means a total of 348 red-light cameras will remain at 172 intersections.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office says the 18 intersections are showing a low level of crashes and dangerous angle crashes. He says that means they are safer.
