Chicago to host summit for local filmmakers
The city of Chicago plans its first Chicago Film Summit this fall.
Chicago had its first music summit earlier this year. The film and media summit will be Oct. 20. Officials want to get members of Chicago’s film community together to come up with ways to promote the industry.
The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events will run the summit with help from local film industry groups. Topics for discussion will include how to get funding, distribution and casting.
Chicago filmmakers are expected to attend, including actor Michael Shannon of this summer’s “Man of Steel” movie and television’s “Boardwalk Empire.”
